Motion Text

That this House marks 78 years since the start of the Nakba, when more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their homes by Israeli forces; recognises that the Nakba is not merely a historical event, but an ongoing process of dispossession, displacement and oppression affecting Palestinians across historic Palestine and the Palestinian diaspora; notes that the International Court of Justice has found Israel to be committing the crime of apartheid against Palestinians, and is further investigating Israel for carrying out a genocide in the Gaza Strip; commends all those commemorating the anniversary of the Nakba in solidarity with the Palestinian people; reaffirms the inalienable right of Palestinians to return to their homeland, as enshrined in international law, and calls on the Government to impose meaningful sanctions including stopping any British trade, military cooperation, or diplomatic support that aids or assists Israel’s illegal occupation.
