BREACHES OF THE MINISTERIAL CODE

Motion Text

That this House notes that the investigation into the breach of the Ministerial code by the former Secretary of State for Defence was itself a breach of the code which explicitly names the independent adviser as the sole enforcer of the code; regrets that political expediency and the need for a quick fix persuaded the Government to approve an illegitimate, botched and superficial report that disregarded much of the evidence; further notes the additional allegations that have been made since the report's publication; and calls for a new, thorough investigation by the Independent Adviser on Ministerial Standards.
