That this House congratulates the people of the Channel Islands as they celebrate the 800th anniversary of their association with the Crown on 24th June; notes that this anniversary is of great significance to the people of the Channel Islands as it is the basis on which the Crown acknowledged the right to the Islands to be governed in accordance with their own laws and customs; supports this longstanding relationship with the Crown and through the Crown the people of the United Kingdom; and warmly welcomes the visit of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to Guernsey and Jersey next week in recognition of this historic date.
