COLOMBIAN CIVIL SOCIETY LEADER KILLINGS

That this House expresses concern and alarm at the ongoing killing of Colombian civil society leaders; 222 in the 15 months after the signing of the Colombian peace agreement and the murder of 38 former combatants of the FARC during the same period; is concerned about the climate for all candidates in the upcoming Presidential elections; notes that a cornerstone of the Colombian peace agreement is the political participation of the FARC and the opening of democratic space; and calls on the Government to continue to encourage the Colombian Government to implement the peace agreement fully and ensure security guarantees for the FARC and civil society activists.
