CONVENTION ON THE FUTURE OF EUROPE

leave out from 'House' to end and add, 'notes that no final proposals on a European Union constitutional treaty will emerge until the end of the Inter Governmental Conference next year or later; welcomes the Government's support in the Convention on the Future of Europe for reform of the institutions of the EU that will be necessary to make enlargement of the EU work efficiently and effectively; supports the traditional British process of detailed Parliamentary scrutiny followed by democratic ratification in Parliament of EU treaties; rejects the ill-informed anti-Europe campaign initiated by the isolationist tabloid press; and opposes the demagogic calls for a referendum on a treaty that does not yet exist.'.
