Global innovation and life saving equipment from Northern Ireland

Motion Text

That this House notes the exceptional contribution to global innovation and engineering made by people from Northern Ireland, including Frank Pantridge, Harry Ferguson, James Martin and John Alexander Finlay, whose innovations have benefited millions of people worldwide; further notes that 2026 marks forty years since the death of John Finlay; believes his pioneering Hydrascreen technology and contribution to Northern Ireland’s engineering success deserve wider recognition; and expresses the hope that present and future generations will be inspired by the innovation, enterprise and ingenuity that have characterised Northern Ireland’s greatest inventors and engineers.
