GMB UNION AND NATIONAL CAR PARKS

Motion Text

That this House notes that 100 per cent. of GMB union members, on an 85 per cent. turnout, have recently voted to take industrial action in furtherance of their dispute with Enfield Borough Council contractor National Car Parks (NCP) for trade union recognition; further notes that in excess of 80 per cent. of the workforce are members of the GMB union; deplores the actions of any employer who discriminates against workers who choose to be a member of, or activist in, a trade union and reminds employers of the Employment Rights Act 2006 giving workers the statutory right to belong to an independent trade union; and therefore calls upon the management of NCP to resolve this dispute through meaningful dialogue and enter into a collective agreement with the GMB by voluntary means, without delay.
