GREEN BURIALS

Motion Text

That this House believes that people should have a choice about their burial after they die; notes that projects like the AB Welfare and Wildlife Trust in Scotton near Harrogate in North Yorkshire have pioneered 'green burials'; notes that the bereavement counselling offered by the Trust leads the way in showing how 'joined-up' services can help the families of the deceased; calls for the issuing of planning policy guidelines to be issued by the Government which would allow the permitted development of green burial sites for a limited number of burials over a specific time; and congratulates the AB Welfare and Wildlife Trust and its bereavement counsellor John Bradfield for the way in which they have pioneered caring services as a model for all those who suffer the loss of a close friend or relative.
