Housing conditions in the private rented sector

That this House acknowledges the report by Citizen's Advice entitled Damp, cold and full of mould: The reality of housing in the private rented sector; is alarmed by the finding that 2.7 million renting households, including 1.6 million children, are currently living in cold, damp or mouldy homes; calls on the Government to implement the report's recommendations to strengthen minimum energy efficiency standards in legislation; and further calls for Awaab’s Law, which will place strict timelines on landlords to deal with issues such as damp and mould, to be extended to the private sector.
