That this House warmly welcomes the launch of the Junior Development Programme at Bainfield Bowling & Social Club, Edinburgh, commencing on 4 October 2026; recognises the club's commitment to developing the next generation of bowlers by providing affordable year-round coaching and training opportunities for young people under the age of 18 who remain in education; notes that the programme will offer weekly coaching sessions, support for participation in competitions, and assistance with travel expenses; commends the dedication of Club President Gerry Walker, coaches Neil Thomson of Bainfield Bowling & Social Club, Beth Isbister of Sighthill Bowling Club, and Robert Wood of Leith Bowling Club, and the many volunteers supporting this initiative; further notes the club's investment of £1,000 and ongoing annual funding to ensure the programme's sustainability; acknowledges the valuable role played by bowling clubs in promoting physical activity, confidence, social inclusion, teamwork and community engagement among young people; also notes that Bainfield Bowling & Social Club is home to the only indoor bowling centre in Edinburgh, providing a unique year-round sporting facility for Scotland's capital; and wishes all participants every success as they develop their skills and represent their clubs and communities in future competitions.
