LOCAL GOVERNMENT FUNDING

Motion Text

That this House condemns the Government's rigged system of local government funding that is forcing councils to increase council tax or cut local public services; notes that this is the ultimate stealth tax; also notes that the government plans to rig funding yet further, via a new system of grant distribution, new council tax bands and council tax revaluation, and that local council taxpayers can expect their council tax bills to soar above inflation yet again; and further notes that hardworking families, particularly those on middle incomes, will be the hardest hit.
