That this House notes the recent result in the retrial of Manuel Salazar in Joliet, Illinois, United States of America; further notes that this is yet another case where, if the original death penalty had been carried out, the person who was originally sentenced would in effect have been murdered by the state; notes that the trial verdict of involuntary manslaughter wholly vindicates an earlier motion signed by 114 honourable Members that called for a retrial and justice for Manuel Salazar; congratulates the defence team in the United States of America for the excellent job they performed; and records its thanks to everyone internationally who helped achieve justice in this case.
