NORTH WEST WATER NETWORK MAINTENANCE SERVICE

Motion Text

That this House expresses deep concern over the decision taken by North West Water to contract out its network maintenance service from 1st April 2000 as part of a programme to reduce costs by 20 per cent. due to cuts in water bills as required by the Water Regulator; notes the huge profits that North West Water is currently making; believes that maintenance should remain inhouse; and calls on North West Water to enter constructive dialogue with the trade unions in order to discuss ways of achieving its aims so that current employees in this sector are not discriminated against in terms of future employment with North West Water.
