That this House warmly welcomes the Government initiative entitling all pensioners to free passes for concessionary travel on buses; notes that many pensioners are dependent on public transport and the cost of travelling accounts for a substantial part of their expenditure; and calls on the Government to initially extend the present scheme to cover rail travel, with a view to introducing free off-peak travel for all pensioners on public transport.
