POST OFFICE CLOSURES IN LANCASHIRE

Motion Text

That this House notes with concern the proposal to close 59 post offices in the Lancashire, Fylde and Southport area; recognises the central role post offices play in the local community both in terms of providing a service to customers and acting as a focal point for local residents; urges national government to allow more services to be provided at post offices in addition to local councils putting more services into post offices, helping to save post offices which do not want to close such as Bolton Street Post Office in Chorley; and calls on Post Office Ltd to reorganise its service in order to recognise areas of population growth as well as population decline.
