PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION RESULTS IN IRAN

Motion Text

That this House notes the recent presidential election result in Iran; acknowledges that the election result may well have been flawed; is concerned that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has a record of reversing much needed reforms in Tehran during his tenure as Mayor; is further concerned at the prospect of more Middle Eastern tension given Ahmadinejad's attitude to Iran's nuclear programme; and calls upon the Government to take the lead in opposing such dangerous developments in an already volatile region.
