PROPOSED CLOSURE OF THE KENTMERE WARD AT WESTMORLAND GENERAL HOSPITAL

Motion Text

That this House is opposed to the proposed closure of the Kentmere Ward at Westmorland General Hospital; notes the crucial importance of the Kentmere Ward, which provides adult mental health services in the local area; acknowledges the detrimental effect on access to such services if the ward closes; recognises that necessary upgrades need to be made at the Kentmere Ward, as outlined in the recent Care Quality Commission report; and calls on the Government to ensure that the Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has access to the funds required to upgrade the unit.
