RAPE IN HOSPITAL

Motion Text

That this House is concerned at the growing number of women who are being raped and assaulted whilst in-patients on mental health wards; is further concerned that the tendency for health authorities to provide only mixed-sex wards for mentally ill patients is misguided and reflects financial constraints more than it reflects clinical opinion; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to initiate positive action to ensure that women-only wards are made available in appropriate numbers for women with mental health problems.
