REEMA CONCLAD AND REEMA HOLLOW PANEL CONSTRUCTION METHODS

Motion Text

That this House expresses concern at the confusion between the construction methods of Reema Conclad and Reema Hollow Panel; notes that Reema Conclad type houses are prefabricated reinforced concrete constructions; further notes that the Government's Building Research Establishment has in the past looked at this method of construction and found it sound and has not added houses built using Reema Conclad to the list linked to the defective housing legislation under Part XVI of the 1985 Housing Act; acknowledges that Reema Hollow Panel type construction has been listed as defective; is concerned that the confusion between the two methods leads to perfectly sound houses being rejected as defective and unmortgageable; and calls upon the Government to produce clear, detailed guidance on these construction methods to avoid any further confusion.
