REFUGEE COUNCIL `DON'T BELIEVE THE TYPE' CAMPAIGN

Motion Text

That this House supports the Refugee Council campaign, Don't Believe the Type, in its attempts to campaign for a fair deal for asylum seekers and refugees; notes that too often the popular press whips up fear and hysteria with its anti-asylum campaign and that contempt towards asylum seekers often stems from ill-informed media coverage; supports the campaign in trying to bring an end to the hostility felt towards asylum seekers; and recognises that the UK has a duty to provide asylum seekers and refugees with protection and not discrimination.
