Motion Text

That this House welcomes the publication of Scottish Racing's Annual Report 2016; notes that the report indicates that racing generated £302 million in Scotland in 2016, sustaining 3,430 full-time equivalent jobs and that there were 300,200 attendances at race meetings; further notes the significant local economic impact of Scotland's racecourses at Kelso, Ayr, Hamilton Park, Perth and Musselburgh; believes that the report confirms the substantial and welcome contribution racing makes to the Scottish economy and as a key part of our cultural, sporting and tourism offering; and wishes all involved in the racing sector continued success in the years ahead.
