Successful result of Oxford covid-19 vaccine Phase I/II trials

Motion Text

That this House congratulates Oxford University’s Jenner Institute and the Oxford Vaccine Group for the successful completion of the Phase I/II trial of its covid-19 vaccine; notes that no early safety concerns were indicated and that strong immune responses in both parts of the immune system were induced; acknowledges that the team behind the Oxford vaccine have worked urgently since January 2020 to achieve this; thanks the scientists, trial volunteers and others involved for the service they have done for the UK and global effort to tackle covid-19; further notes that there are further stages to follow before the vaccine can be administered to the general public; and calls on the Prime Minister and the Government to ensure those leading the Oxford vaccine project receive the honours they deserve.
