VAPE PRODUCTS POST BREXIT

Motion Text

That this House notes the potential of vape products to dissuade smoking and possibly aid in smoking cessation as outlined by Public Health England and the Royal College of Physicians including that vape products appear to be around 95 per cent less harmful than smoking tobacco; acknowledges evidence which indicates that vaping is not currently acting as a gateway into smoking for children and non-smokers; further notes that the European Commissions' Tobacco Products Directive prohibits most forms of vape products which may hinder the promotion of vape products to smokers and understands the fear of the vaping industry that this may hinder promotion of vaping products as an alternative to the more harmful smoking; and urges the Government to consider a review of these rules after the UK leaves the EU.
