Wm Morrison Supermarkets Limited and Clerkhill Post Office

Motion Text

That this House notes with concern the decision by Wm Morrison Supermarkets Limited to close their outlet at Clerkhill, Peterhead, which results in the closure of the Post Office branch serving that area; understands that Wm Morrison Supermarkets Limited rejected a request to keep the outlet open for a short period to assist in a new base being found for the Post Office; condemns their decision to press ahead with the closure with effect from 30 July 2026 despite being well-supported at their three outlets in Peterhead by the local community over many years; and reaffirms its support for Post Office branches as central to the communities they serve.
