Answer from Hansard
The Chancellor of the Exchequer (John Healey)
My thoughts today are with all those whose lives have been changed forever and the families who have lost loved ones through the contaminated blood scandal. I have very close friends who lost brothers and cousins nearly 40 years ago. Nothing can undo the suffering they have endured, and this Government are totally committed to recognising that profound hurt and injustice. Eligible claimants will receive the compensation they are due. We will continue working across Government to ensure that justice is delivered and compensation reaches the victims as quickly as possible.
