Allow the creation of global BBC iPlayer for international audiences

We believe we should prioritise commercial growth over cuts. We feel BBC dramas, documentaries and children’s programmes are some of the best and appeal to global audiences. Millions bypass geo-blocks to watch them. We call on the Government to allow a global BBC iPlayer.

The Government is deciding the BBC’s future now. The Charter Review sets the framework to 2038. On iPlayer: millions already use VPNs to access BBC content; charging £5–8/month could unlock major new revenue. In 2024, it was reported the number of BritBox International (BBC) subscribers grew by 300%, with nearly 4m subscribers. We believe the BBC has strong global appeal in children and nature content.
