Background

Ban public transport from being in operation without working air conditioning on board when outside temperatures reach 25°C. There should also be inspections for compliance with this ban and a website reporting vehicles in operation without fully working air conditioning.

Additional details

We believe we are seeing exponential changes to our climate, and the UK historically lacks AC. We feel this affects our hardworking public transport drivers the most. Drivers’ cabins can reach 10°c higher than outside temperatures, and without AC, it can become inhumane and dangerous to work in these conditions 8+ hours a day. We believe all public transport vehicles should be fitted with working Air Con and regular maintenance. Companies or organisations that fail to do so should be fined per vehicle.
