End Compulsory Branded Skirts in School Uniforms

Amend school uniform legislation and statutory guidance to prevent schools from requiring compulsory branded skirts where a plain skirt of the correct colour and style would meet the same purpose.

Additional details

The Government introduced statutory guidance to reduce school uniform costs, but some schools still require branded skirts for girls while boys can usually wear plain supermarket trousers. This creates unnecessary costs and limits choice. Families should not pay more simply because their child is female. Parents should have the same freedom to compare prices, buy from different retailers and choose affordable uniform options for girls as they already do for boys.
