Background

Extend 'The Fireworks (Scotland) Miscellaneous Amendments Regulations 2021' and the 'Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Act 2022' beyond Scotland, as a significant step towards tackling the anti-social use of fireworks within the rest of the UK; follow Scotland's lead in tackling misuse.

Additional details

Anti-social use of fireworks is not limited to Scotland, the rest of the UK is experiencing the same issue. Whilst not a complete solution yet, the two new legislations have enabled a significant step forwards in tacking the misuse of fireworks in Scotland by: introducing greater restrictions on the sale and use of fireworks, and; providing discretionary powers to local authorities to designate firework control zones. The changes have been positive for Scotland.
