Fund free hospital parking for NHS staff and students on placement

Background

We want the Government to fund free hospital parking for staff and medical & dental students working in NHS hospitals on placement during working hours and ensure they are protected from parking penalties at all times, including when they are required to work beyond their scheduled hours.

Additional details

NHS staff can face significant parking costs simply for attending work, with some hospitals charging around £10 to £12 per day. Medical and dental students can also pay substantial amounts while completing compulsory NHS placements. We believe the Government should fund free parking for staff and students working in NHS hospitals, and ensure staff are not penalised, including when clinical duties unavoidably require them to work beyond their scheduled hours.
