Funding for Postgraduate Loans to cover actual course fees & living costs

Background

Provide funding to increase the maximum Postgraduate Master's Loan allocation provided by Student Finance England (SFE) and introduce a separate maintenance element to ensure postgraduate education is financially accessible to all students from all socio-economic backgrounds.

Additional details

A person's financial status should never be a barrier to their academic ambitions. The current maximum Postgraduate Loan (SFE) of £13,206 is expected to cover both tuition fees and basic living expenses. Many postgraduate students do not have the capacity to work as much as they need to support themselves. The government must urgently review this. Improving postgraduate finance is not a luxury; we believe it is a structural necessity to fuel the Government's own Local Growth Plans.
