Hold a consultation on a second anthem for England at sport and celebrations

Background

Why does England, unlike Scotland and Wales, have no anthem of its own for football, rugby, or cricket? "God Save the King" suits Remembrance and state occasions perfectly. This petition asks Government to consult on whether England should have a second anthem, just for celebration.

Additional details

Scotland has Flower of Scotland, Wales has Land of My Fathers, proud anthems for sport and celebration. England has neither; it borrows "God Save the King," written for solemn occasions. Tellingly, fans often reach for songs like Sweet Caroline at big moments instead, proof there's appetite for something with more energy. This petition asks Government to consult on whether England should have a second anthem for celebration, leaving the existing anthem unchanged for state and ceremonial use.
