Increase national single-carriageway, dual-carriageway & motorway speed limits

Background

Increase respective speed limits on appropriately-engineered single carriageway, dual carriageway & motorway class roads to 70mph, 80mph & 90mph respectively.

Additional details

Vehicle technology (brakes, suspension, tyres & associated driver assistance systems) have improved out of all recognition since the existing limits were imposed. Many accidents are caused by poor observation, poor hazard perception & hence poor hazard response; so accompanying road user training; focussed on enhancing road user attention on the driving task, could help negate the issue of higher vehicle speeds.
