Increase spending on defence in the UK

Background

The Government needs to focus spending directly to maintaining a minimum threshold of essential resources required to sustain a continuous defence if the world enters a new time of conflict such as an escalation of current hostilities. We must start now instead of just promising to increase it later

Additional details

There is a majority Government in House of Commons so they have full ability to create the budget as they want. With this ability they should be aiming to help the UK as a whole to the greatest extent possible however as such an inability to protect ourselves in times of conflict means they failed. While researching for my active citizenship project I realised that while we were spending our money on new high tech equipment we lacked the essential resources to sustain an effective defence.
