Require all elected public officials have a clean enhanced DBS prior to start

Background

We think we need to restore faith in politics, both locally and nationally. Nurses, teachers, doctors, carers; each require enhanced criminal background checks to enable them to help people. We think that these standards should also apply to elected officials.

Additional details

We believe that an enhanced criminal background check is a method of ensuring a person can be trusted. Given the number of people impacted by local and national politicians, we think it is prescient to consider implementing a process of procuring a clean enhanced DBS from each elected candidate prior to their starting work. This could help increase trust in our local and national politicians.
