Review & strengthen sentencing for the most serious crimes against children

Background

We ask the Government to launch a fundamental review into sentencing, bail and public protection for the most serious offences against children, including child murder, rape, sexual assault and organised child sexual exploitation.

Additional details

The review should consider the following reforms: whole life orders for the most serious offences against children, introducing stricter bail and remand when there is a risk of reoffending, no early release, increasing sentencing for organised child sexual exploitation, deporting eligible foreign-national offenders guilty of these crimes and ensuring they do not evade sentencing, and considering capital punishment for the most serious crimes against children.
