Review the police response to assaults on mental health nurses

Background

We want more protection for mental health nurses in cases of assault. Review the official action taken after an assault, to ensure that the assault and abuse of mental health nurses is taken seriously. Review how Operation Cavell has been applied to mental health nurses.

Additional details

We believe that assaults on mental health nurses are often not taken seriously by the police with some officers taking the attitude that 'it's part of your job'. Assault towards MH nurses should be treated the same as abuse in public or of nurses in acute services.
