Revise the school mobile phone legislation for KS5 students (aged 16 and above)

Background

We think the new legislation banning mobile phones in school should be revised to cater to KS5 students (aged 16-18). We believe these students need the freedom to endeavour in self study without being restricted by phone bans.

Additional details

We are concerned that this ban could have a serious negative effect on the performance of students. Whilst overall the ban could be beneficial to a school environment, we think it creates problems for KS5 students (aged 16-18). This is because in a digital age, most resources for independent study are online. Allowing KS5 students more freedom could improve performance and results. We also think it is unfair to confiscate a 17 or 18 year olds phone. These are people who are near adulthood.
