Support the construction of a Lydney Crossing over the Severn River
Background
Support in every manner possible the construction of a new bridge across the Severn River to link the A48 to the West of the river with the M5 on the East Side easing congestion for a wide geographical area for both commuters and families wishing to travel to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley areas.
Additional details
Congestion in Chepstow is unsustainable. Traffic backs up through residential areas, and the ongoing bridge works have highlighted how new and planned housing developments have not been matched by road infrastructure improvements. During peak hours, queues to enter Wales frequently extend as far as the M32 in Bristol. At weekends, tourist traffic through the town makes even short journeys frustratingly slow. With another housing development planned for Chepstow, the area needs change now.
