To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the Answer of 11 November 2024 to Question 12545 on Asylum: Sri Lanka, what the serious welfare and safeguarding concerns for (a) children and (b) other people were on Diego Garcia.
Answer
Dame Angela EagleDiego Garcia has never been a suitable location for migrants, including children and their families, given the logistical challenges of providing care in such a remote place without housing, medical care or other significant civilian infrastructure.
