To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of Ofcom's enforcement of news channel impartiality.

Stephanie PeacockOfcom, by law, carries out its duties independently of the Government. Ofcom is required by legislation to enforce a Broadcasting Code for television and radio, to ensure that news, in whatever form, is reported with due accuracy and presented with due impartiality. The Government believes broadcasters should uphold the highest standards and ensure polemic is not presented as fact.
