To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if she will make an assessment of the potential merits of introducing a windfall tax on the profits of (a) banks and (b) other financial institutions.

Lucy RigbyThe government’s position on the taxation of the banking sector remains as set out in the Corporate Tax Roadmap. The regime is kept under review to ensure that objectives around growth and fiscal responsibility are appropriately balanced.
