To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to the Answer of 21 April 2023 to Question 177951 on Sea King Helicopters: Exhaust Emissions, when his Department first investigated the potential link between long exposure to Sea King helicopter exhaust fumes and people developing multiple myeloma cancer.

Dr Andrew MurrisonThe Institute of Naval Medicine first investigated potential links between benzene exposure from Sea King exhaust fumes and multiple myeloma cancer in 2022. The investigation was specific to benzene exposure and not to exposure to the exhaust emissions as a whole.
