Children’s Wellbeing and Schools BillContribution
Beyond safeguarding, schools have a range of responsibilities that require them to collect and use data effectively. Restricting their ability to do so would not only hinder their work but could leave them open to legal challenge for failing to meet their statutory duties. Elsewhere in the Bill, we are rightly strengthening the role of education and childcare settings in multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, with a shift to prevention at the heart of our reforms. This is not about surveillance; it is about ensuring that when a child needs help, the system sees them, hears them, and acts.
