Children’s Wellbeing and Schools BillContribution
In addition, as has been mentioned, we have previously funded provision of 700,000 carbon dioxide monitors to over 45,000 education settings, enabling them to monitor and manage ventilation in teaching spaces to support good levels of ventilation. I will have to write to the noble Baroness to see whether we can find out how many of those are still in operation—that was a good point. We rolled out filtration-based HEPA air cleaning units for schools that had identified poorly ventilated spaces which could not be resolved through simple measures such as opening windows and doors. Further, we support other measures to reduce disease transmission, including working with the UK Health Security Agency to promote messaging on the importance of good respiratory and hand hygiene to reduce the spread of diseases, encouraging parents and carers to take up the offer to have their children vaccinated against preventable diseases such as measles and flu.
