The noble Earl, Lord Erroll, also made the very good point that what Peers do is more important than making a speech. He is absolutely right. The criteria that we have set out in both our amendments invite the committee to look at all work Peers do in this House before making a judgment. To my noble friend Lord Attlee—who I am relieved did not have to go to Ipswich—I repeat that the committee that the noble Lord, Lord Cromwell, and I are suggesting will look at all activity. To the noble Lord, Lord Desai: I do not understand algorithms myself, but maybe he could serve on the committee, if the Committee agrees the amendment and it is set up.
