Crime and Policing BillContribution
Finally, 42% of all UK phone thefts occur in the capital. By virtue of population density, most phone thefts and shoplifting incidents take place in dense, built-up cities. Crime rates are often exacerbated by economic status, meaning offenders will often live or reside in social housing. The result is that, if a stolen device is electronically tracked, its location is often traced to a high-rise apartment block or an alike residence, making it incredibly hard to pinpoint a specific apartment. Police forces cannot be expected to trawl through every residence in a block until they are certain they have the right one.
