Planning and Infrastructure Bill

I am sorry to interrupt the Minister for a second time; I genuinely apologise, but this is really important. I know that the hour is late, but is the Minister aware that there has only been one occasion—in Sheffield, at a magistrates’ court—where a council has been able to block a gambling premises application? That is likely to be overturned because of the huge power and resources of the gambling companies to get their licences to do it. Frankly, the Minister is misleading the Committee, in my view, in arguing that the current legislation allows councils to do what he is saying they do. That is not the evidence that is available from all of the councils around the country.
