Labour — Dulwich and West Norwood

Speaking in the House of Commons on 9 March 2026

Debate

Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

Contribution

I will not, because of the time limit. However, there are important differences of opinion between stakeholders on the best ways in which to regulate young people’s access to smartphones and social media, so I consider it right for the Government to consult. I welcome the amendments that will allow legislation to be introduced without delay. It would be helpful if the Minister could give some assurances about the timescale for the introduction of legislation following the consultation, which I believe will be necessary.
