Speaking in the House of Lords on 11 February 2025

Debate

Great British Energy Bill

Contribution

My Lords, I am disappointed that the Minister did not adequately engage on the issues that I raised. For example, he mentioned biodiversity as being a matter, but that is not included at all, in any way, shape or form, in the Amendment 38 that he moved. I just think there is an insufficient balance between carbon and those other matters on sustainability. It looks like we may have lost the battle this evening, but make no mistake: Labour’s war on the countryside continues. In the circumstances, I will not press this to the vote, and I beg leave to withdraw my amendment with disappointment.
